Born from the legacy of the Steeves & Rozema Group, S&R Seniors Living was created to bring the company’s vision —“Creating Communities that are Good for Life” — to every stage of senior living. What began as a few thoughtfully designed residences has grown into a network of vibrant communities across Southwestern Ontario, each dedicated to providing comfort, connection, and quality of life.

At S&R Seniors Living, every community is designed with care, balancing independence and support to meet the unique needs of residents and their families. Our Founder’s Story — Then and Now

In 1963, Don Steeves and John Rozema set out with a shared vision: to build a company that not only constructed buildings but also made a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Starting as a small construction and general contracting business under the parent Steeves & Rozema Group, their approach combined dedication, craftsmanship, and a commitment to community.

From the very beginning, Don and John believed that success was measured not just by projects completed, but by the positive impact on the people and communities they served. They took pride in hands-on work, developing strong relationships with clients, and fostering a culture of teamwork and integrity. Their reputation for quality and care quickly became a hallmark of the company.

As the years progressed, their vision grew. They expanded beyond construction into property ownership and management, carefully developing commercial, multi-residential, seniors living, and long-term care communities throughout Southwestern Ontario. Don and John’s leadership emphasized long-term thinking: creating spaces that would enrich lives for generations to come.

Today, that original vision lives on. Steeves & Rozema remains a privately owned family business, fully integrated in real estate, with over 100 buildings developed and 1,800+ Team Members across London, Sarnia, Chatham, Kingsville, Windsor, Guelph, Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo. The values instilled by Don and John—integrity, care for people, and a commitment to community—continue to guide every decision.
